Sound of the Heartland Ensemble is a proud host of World Singing Day on October 16, 2021. In fact, we are the only official hosts in Kansas! We have a full day of singing to offer Wichita and Burns, KS!
We enjoyed a somewhat warm but fun and productive public rehearsal at the Depot Park in Newton earlier in June! It was fun to see the car windows being rolled down to listen to our music as people passed through that intersection. We even got a few honks! Detour competed in May, 2019 in Little Rock, AR during the Sweet Adelines Regional 25 Competition, winning 5th Place.

In the 1940's, the Great Depression was drawing to a close, bringing with it a hope for a brighter economic future. Yet there was also uncertainty on the world stage as a war loomed. To cope, people turned to their radios to stay informed as well as to escape for an hour or two each evening. Radio personalities and musicians helped Americans through the war and the years following.
