50th Anniversary Fall Open Auditions

We are delighted that you are interested in auditioning with the Sound of the Heartland chorus! Congratulations for choosing to do something for You!

This year our chorus celebrates our 50th Anniversary, and it is our goal to grow our membership by 50%!

YOU can be a part of the excitement!

If you love to sing, we'd love to meet you! We are always looking for energetic, vocally talented women who are interested in being the best singers they can possibly be. We are looking for every voice type, from high highs to low lows, and people who love to harmonize! The ability to read music is helpful, but not required.

Our chorus meets every Thursday at 7pm at First Baptist Church, 200 W. 6th, in Newton, KS. During rehearsals we work hard and have a lot of fun.  At a rehearsal, you will participate in physical and vocal warm-ups, section rehearsals, and full chorus run throughs.  We will be offering education on what we do and how to become a better singer! With members from central Kansas from McPherson to Wichita (and beyond) you'll fit right in to our small group!

After you have answered the following questions and submitted them, you will be contacted by our membership chair to give you more information about what to expect regarding the audition process.

Candidates should expect to attend three consecutive rehearsals to audition: Sept. 22, Sept. 29, and October 13. You will be learning a song with the chorus!

It’s not scary, we promise!

Concerned about cost? Ask Amy about our 50th Anniversary Soundsation Scholarships!

If you have any questions about the audition process or membership, email our membership coordinator, Amy Kjellin, at [email protected].

Thank you for your interest in the Sound of the Heartland Women’s Chorus! We can’t wait to meet you!
